About the author

Sven Nordqvist is a writer, cartoonist and graphic artist born in 1946 in Helsingborg. Nordqvist is one of the most successful picturebook creators working today, having authored nearly twenty of his own books and illustrated just as many by other authors. Nordqvist has received a string of awards and fellowships, including the Elsa Beskow Plaque (1989) and the Children and Young People Fellowship for the Promotion of Literature (1991).

Literature can be a powerful force for good. As a response to the climate crisis, the Gothenburg Book Fair has asked renowned authors from around the world to write protest signs that are available for anyone to use. So that you can tackle the greatest challenge of our time, with words from the greatest writers of our time.

All signs are free to download and use in protests. But please consider donating to our partner the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. To learn more about the Gothenburg Book Fair and this year’s theme – the climate crisis – please visit our website bokmassan.se.
